I am very involved with the Internet2 Middleware Initiative, one major project of which is
The Shibboleth Project.
In support of US Higher Education institutions and their partners using Shibboleth (and potentially other SAML-compliant products) to do federated resource access, Internet2 operates the InCommon Federation.
I have also been a member of the OASIS Security Services Technical Committee (which produced SAML) since its inception.
