Around the Blog is a PowerPoint-free zone and formal product pitches are not allowed. After brief introductions, our panelists will engage with the moderator, each other and the audience to discuss the hot topics in each of their categories. Opening Keynote - Loïc Le Meur, VP Executive Europe, Six Apart, Blog

Setting the stage for the panels that will follow, Loic will lead us on a tour through the current state-of-the-art of the blogosphere, visiting a wide variety of sites and sharing stories and ideas.

Panel 1: RSS

RSS is the enabling technology for participatory communications, providing syndication for blogs, wikis, podcasts, videocasts, etc. This panel will discuss the best ways to use RSS, both to publish and subscribe to information.

Panel 2: Audio Technologies & Podcasting

Adding audio to your blog is becoming easier every day. From formal podcasts to short snippets to giving people the choice to listen to rather than read your blog, there are many exciting things happening. This panel will discuss the ways in which audio is currently being used, the challenges audio presents, and ideas about future audio technologies.

Panel 3: Photos, Photo blogs, & Videoblogging

With the ongoing improvment in high speed bandwidth, especially the new 3G networks being deployed in Europe, early adopters are beginning to jump on the photo and video bandwagon, adding graphics and short videos to their blogs, and even creating pure video blogs. This panel will highlight some of these early uses, discuss the challenges and, as with the preceding panel, talk about ideas for future video technologies.

Panel 4: Tracking/Listening to the Online World

No one can afford to be blind and deaf in this new online world. Our panelists will discuss the current state of the art for tracking what is happening in the blogosphere, giving tips and advice on how to keep up with the rapid changes in technology.

Panel 5: Case Studies/Looking at the Future of Participatory Communications

We've invited a variety of companies to share with us how they are deploying these new technologies both inside their company and for external purposes. We'll wrap up with a look at the future of participatory communications. We expect the discussion to be lively and we'll have plenty of time for questions from the audience.
