Top three Admin questions
Where did my old workspace dashboards go? I was using the "Announcements and Links" on that Dashboard page to communicate important things to my team.
- The old "workspace dashboard" feature was part personal, part group, and not customizable. We have replaced this with two separate features. Each user has a truly personal dashboard that they can personalize for their own workstyle, and each "workspace" has its own "Central Page" that can be used to communicate shared information for the team.
- You can transfer your "Announcements and Links" content onto that "Central Page."
- To access the Central Page, click on the workspace title in the new Workspace Navigation (upper left). Note the title of the Central Page.
- Find your Announcements and Links page by doing a title search for Announcements. Type title: announcements into the search box. Next, using the Tools menu, choose Rename Page. In the rename dialog box, put your Central Page title in the "New Page Name" text box. Leave the checkboxes checked. Choose Rename. Confirm that you are renaming to the existing page. The Announcements and Links page will be renamed to your Central Page.
What does the OnePageWiki do, and how can I set it up?
This widget displays a snapshot of one wiki page on your dashboard.
You can use the OnePageWiki widget for for a quick at-a-glance view of useful pages that contain: Status tracking (for projects), a document you’re working on with a deadline, a “to do list” page, or a personal notepad. You can add as many OnePageWiki widgets to your dashboard as you like. Experiment and enjoy.
Click the wrench icon to configure the OnePageWiki.
- In Workspace, type the workspace name. This is the name the system uses to identify the workspace. To determine the workspace name, click Workspaces in the Navigation Menu for a list of your workspaces by name and title.
- In Page, type the name of the page you wish to see.
- Click the Save button.
The Widget now displays this page and the Widget Title displays the page name. You can edit this page right in the widget by clicking the Edit Page link near the top of the widget space. Click Save or Cancel, at the top of the widget space when done.
Can you explain the new navigation?
Socialtext 3 helps your users to find their way around

- The "Home" link in the top gray bar takes users to their personal Dashboard
- The "Workspaces" link in the top gray bar gives users a quick pulldown to access their workspaces.
- If you have "Socialtext People" enabled, a People link takes users to your directory.
A "Workspace" menu gives users quick access to their Workspace Central Page, Whats New, and other common links.

More changes you may notice
- Editing: Simple mode is now Rich Text mode and Advanced mode is now Wiki Text mode. The button presented after Preview says Edit, not Edit More. The styling of the pages is completely different.
- Page attachments: attachments may be deleted and extracted directly on the page. No more Manage Files button or sorting of attachments. Use the All Files list view for sorting attached files.
Socialtext Dashboard
One of my users used the "notepad" feature on the old Dashboard. How can she get it back?
- The user can add this page to her personal dashboard. Simply use Settings, then Your Notepad, to find the title of the notepad page. Then add a "one-page wiki" widget to her personal dashboard, and point the new "one-page wiki" to that page. The page will now be on her dashboard.
- Later this year you will be able to test and add widgets that your users can add to their dashboards.
Does my Dashboard display all content in Socialtext, or only the workspaces to which I have access?
- Both Socialtext Dashboard and Socialtext People maintain the confidentiality of private workspaces. Content from private workspaces is displayed only on the dashboards of individuals who have access to those workspaces.

What People are in my People Directory?

All community members are listed in the People directory. Each person in the directory is able to see each others' profile information.
My organization has more than one Community (for example, company employees, and a customer group). Can I set up multiple communities?
- Yes, you can do this today. Today you need to work with Socialtext support. They can help you separate your workspaces into the appropriate Communities. Soon you will have an administrative tool to do this yourself.
