Upcoming events:

Tursday, February 23, 2006, 7-9:00 PM

Ralph Merkle, Distinguished Professor of Computing at Georgia Tech, will be speaking on the topics of Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine

Abstract:
There is now widespread agreement we will someday be able to make most arrangements of atoms that are consistent with physical law. How long this will take, and what such future "molecular manufacturing systems" will look like, are still matters of debate.

Disease and ill health are caused by damage at the molecular and cellular level. Today's medical tools are too large to deal with such damage. In the future, nanotechnology will let us build molecular medical devices guided by molecular computers, able for the first time to directly intervene at the root cause of most medical problems and cure them.
