Back to Socialtext Documentation.
Your Profile page shows the information about you that is shared with your colleagues.
NOTE:
The Profile capability is part of Socialtext People, an optional component of the Socialtext Social Software Platform. If you do not see the Profile link in your Login and Setup Menu then Socialtext People is not enabled.

The page contains six sections, described below. Unlike the widgets on your Personal Dashboard these sections are stationary. If your People I am Following, Your Followers, or Tags list are long, scroll down to view Updates and Workspaces.
Here is all the data you have chosen to share with your colleagues. By clicking (Edit) next to your name at the top of this widget, you can add, delete, or update a wealth of information.

You may edit one or more items in your profile in one sitting. When you finished, scroll to the end of the page and click Update profile. This will save all the changes and then take you back to your profile page.
If you wish to cancel the update operation, simply navigate away from the page (for example, click Home in your Navigation Menu ).
A picture is worth a thousand words! Present your face to the world by either uploading a new photo from your computer or using a photo on the web.
Two sizes of your photo are displayed in Socialtext, and are both shown here.
While there is currently no size limit for the photo you choose, larger photos will be squeezed into the size used by Socialtext and may become hard to see. Smaller files make better profile photos.

By default, the name chosen for your profile is derived from your log-on e-mail address or username. You can update this by typing your first name (and middle name if you desire) into the First name: box, and your last name into the Last name: box. If you blank both names in the boxes, the system will use the default. If your name comes out of your organization's directory, that name will appear here and not be editable.

You can clarify who you are by typing the appropriate data into each text box. What you type is what will publicly appear in your Profile widget.
These boxes provide a list of people within your workspace from which you can choose the name of your supervisor and assistant. In both cases:
This name now appears in the text box.
To blank the box once it has a name in it select Select One at the top of the drop-down menu list.

You can choose to display phone numbers here. By default, all of this information is blank. Type in whatever phone number you wish to display into the appropriate text boxes. If you wish to erase phone numbers, simply delete the text.
The e-mail address that is displayed is the one you use to log in to your account. This is permanent, cannot be changed, and will be displayed in your profile.

Give people the chance to contact you instantly by displaying any or all of your Instant Messanger screen names. Type in the appropriate info into the text boxes. If you wish to erase any data here, simply delete the text.
As Twitter is associated with this product, it will appear with linked text in your Web section of your Profile widget so that users may click on your screen name to easily begin tracking you through Twitter.

If you have web presences that you wish to display in your profile, here is the place to add them. Again, type (or copy and paste) your data into the appropriate boxes. This will appear in your profile as a link that will open a new browser window displaying the page provided (or a log-in window if the application requires members to log on). You can also delete the text for any item you do not wish displayed.

You can delete your association with a tag listed within your Tags widget by clicking the Delete button (small blue-grey 'X' beside the tag name) beside the tag you wish to delete. The tag is then removed from this list.
