Unplugged Enabled
Socialtext Unplugged allows users to read and edit workspace pages while offline. Users can "unplug" one or more pages to read and edit. Changes can be synchronized with the workspace.
Socialtext Unplugged has been in release for some time, but it is now sufficiently robust that every new wiki created using Create New Workspace will have Unplugged enabled. An administrator may toggle Unplugged on and off in any given workspace using the Workspace Features interface. On the Socialtext hosted service, all existing wikis have had Unplugged enabled. The Socialtext Appliance contains a script that a system administrator may run to enable Unplugged in all existing workspaces.
Internationalization and Japanese Localization
Socialtext now has full localization capability, and a Japanese localization is provided. Use Setting => Screen Layout to select a localization.
Socialtext Open Source License
Socialtext Open is now released under the CPAL license.
Weblog as Home Page
A system administrator may set up a wiki such that its Home page is one of its weblogs instead of its Central Page or your Dashboard. Email your wiki support to request this feature.
Phrase Searching
Searching for an exact phrase such as "The boy stood on the burning deck" should now work. Page, title, and tag searches may use phrase search - results containing the phrase will be returned. Known issue: in some older wikis, some phrase searches may still fail. Contact your wiki support if that is hampering your work to get your wiki reindexed.
Other Changes for Socialtext 2.15
There are a number of internal improvements, as well as these visible improvements:
- Users of Internet Explorer 6 will not receive mixed content security warning popups unless a page actually contains mixed content. See IE Mixed Content Instructions.
- IE Advanced mode text area is as large as possible.
- IE users can download attachments via https.
- The Wiki White Screen of Death in IE has been eliminated, as far as we know. If your page turns white, try using Preview to bring it back. If you have a repeatable example we would sure like to see it.
- Static content like images, CSS, and Javascript were being fetched from the server multiple times under some circumstances. That will no longer happen and pages should load faster.
- If the sidebox is disabled, it will never be displayed at all instead of displaying then disappearing.
- Windows BMP image format is now recoginzed and displayed as an image.
- Page display in Simple mode, Preview, and Display mode have more consistent appearance.
- Styles for Include, Comment, and for dynamic content such as Table of Contents have been improved.
- Enter key creates "single space" while editing in FF instead of "double space".
- Watchlist sorts in descending date order instead of alphabetical.
- File upload has the following improvements:
- The Done button used to appear before the upload was complete. Clicking it would result in terminating the upload and could result in a corrupted attachment.
- Navigating away from a page while an upload is in progress will terminate the upload but will no longer result in a corrupted attachment.
- Uploading a non-existent file would update the file list with the bogus file as if it were a real file. It now has the proper error message.
- The file size limit (50 MB) is now clearly displayed on the upload dialog. It is still the case that attempting to upload a file larger than the file size limit will result in the upload never terminating. Reload the page to terminate the upload- no attachment will result.
- The "password reset" link in wiki invitation emails works.
- Usage reports have been corrected.
- Searching for tags that contain double quotes works.
- Blank line at top of page no longer freezes loading of Simple editor.
- Plus signs (+) in email confirmation links no longer break the confirmation process.
- URLs containing the string data work.
- A title containing the string C++ of a page containing a TOC no longer freezes the editor.
