Miki, the M obile W iki

In the navigation bar at the top of each page, a Mobile link will take you to Miki ™, the mobile interface to your wiki. The link lets people be aware that there is a mobile version available. To get to the mobile version from your phone or handheld device, simply type the regular web link, and the system will take you to the mobile version. This lightweight interface is specifically designed for handheld devices and it is available in your browser as well. Learn more about the mobile interface at Miki, the Mobile Wiki.

Workspace Administrators Can Upload Custom Skins

It is now possible for workspace administrators to upload customized skin files and apply the customized skin to the workspace. It is no longer necessary to coordinate with Socialtext Customer Support to do that. This makes it easier to test skins during development, and to update skins when changes are desired.

To customize your own skin, download the Skin Customization Kit, modify the skin files to your liking, and upload them using the new Workspace Skin feature of the Administrators' interface. Complete documentation on skin customization is available in the Socialtext Style Customization Guide.

Other Changes for Socialtext 2.17

There are a number of internal improvements, as well as these visible improvements:

• The wiki has been styled slightly differently. Fonts for page display, simple mode editing, preview, and print have been aligned so that pages should appear as similar as possible in each display mode. A styled footer has been added to the bottom of each page containing the version number and some helpful links. Internally, style sheets have been substantially reorganized to make custom skinning easier.
• A problem introduced by previous improvements to handling of vertical whitespace is fixed. Vertical whitespace in IE should no longer expand. New lines should still appear to be "single spaced" instead of "double spaced."
• The presentation of all of the dynamic content (e.g. table of contents, search results, tag and weblog lists) is uniform.
• Two problems relating to saving new pages have been fixed:
• untitled_page was a reserved name but could be used as a page title. Now a new page cannot have that name.
• In IE, saving a new page without giving it a unique title would fail.
• In IE, Login+Edit now opens the page for editing after login.
