Rich Text mode lets you edit much as you would in a word processor, and hides the fancy punctuation that is visible in Wiki Text mode. You can switch between edit modes at any time by clicking a link that appears above the toolbar while editing a page:
Note to Macintosh users: Rich Text mode is not available in the Safari browser.

The toolbar above the editing window features buttons that will apply formatting to selected text or insert new elements.

The
button activates the "Add a Link" dialog box.

If you have text selected when you activate the button, the box will attempt to populate its fields based on the text.
To make an internal link (to a page within the same workspace), simply type in the name of the page, select it, and press the link
button. When the Link dialog pops up, make any changes like adding link text, and Save.
To make an external link (to a page outside of the workspace), select the text you would like to turn into a link and press the link
button. When the Link dialog appears, choose Web Link and type in the URL for the external link.
To make a link to a section within a page, also press the link button, select Section Link, and type the name of the section to which you wish to link.
Here's a detailed walkthrough of this feature: Using the Link button .
Clicking the
button activates the "Attached Image" dialog box allowing you to display an attached image on your page.

This feature is explained in depth here .
Any image you choose to attach must first be uploaded to this or another page.
"More options" allows you to use an image attached to another page or another workspace. If you provide Link text, your page will contain a link to the image rather than the image itself.
Creating a table will insert a grid of rows and columns at your cursor position.
When you click the
button, you will first see this prompt box:

Enter the number of rows you wish to have for your table and click OK. Immediately the next prompt box will appear:

Enter the number of columns you need and click OK.
A small, empty table will then appear at the cursor position. Although it looks small the cells expand when you enter text or images.
Use Wiki Text mode to change the number of rows and columns in a table, or the nifty native table editor in Firefox in Rich Text mode.
The Insert pulldown menu contains elements that you can add to a page, including Links and WikiWidgets.

To use the Insert menu, put the insertion point where you want the new element to appear; be sure the insertion point is surrounded by whitespace, pull down the menu and choose an element to pop up a dialog box. Fill in the text fields in the box and Save the information to insert the element into the page. Many of these dialog boxes have advanced options available if you click "More options".
For a complete description of all the items in this drop-down menu, visit Insert Menu Catalog.
Some WikiWidgets can only be edited in Wiki Text mode. Mouseover tooltips will tell you when that is needed.
If you wish to add files to your page, you need to upload them first. The
button allows you to do this by activating the "Upload files" dialog box.

The process for uploading files is explained in detail here: Attach a file or image
The
button allows you to add a tag to this page. It opens the following dialog box:

As you begin typing, the dialog box will provide suggestions based on the tags that already exist in the workspace.
Clicking a suggested tag will add that tag. To save your newly entered tag, press Enter or click the Save tag button.
NOTE: All workspace weblog names are also tag names. Assigning a weblog as a tag (e.g. assigning the tag My Weblog) publishes the page to that weblog.
More information on tags can be found here.
You can copy text from a browser window or from Word and paste it into Rich Text mode. Most of the formatting will be preserved.
WikiWidgets makes the old Gray Dashed Boxes obsolete. All elements will appear as WikiWidgets in Rich Text mode.
A few WikiWidgets cannot be edited in Rich Text mode. In order to edit those, it is necessary to switch to Wiki Text mode. A mouseover tooltip will tell you when that is needed.
By clicking the Preview button (between Save and Cancel ), you can see exactly what the page will look like when you save it. While in Preview mode, click the Edit More button to return to editing.
Rich Text mode editing is not intended to be a complete word processor or HTML editor. It allows you to use basic formatting, and shows you formatting changes as you make them.
