Blogrolls are lists of other blogs located on a blog's front page (and often repeated on individual pages). On one level they outline the blogger's social network within the blogosphere, a list of friends, allies, and associates. On another level the blogroll describes the blogger's blogospheric reading habits, and may include bloggers without any social connection to the blogger in question.
Trackbacks are an automated feature of some blogging platforms. When one author blogs about another blogger's post, the latter then features a link back to the former.
Unfortunately, spammers have figured out how to flood trackbacks with bogus links, driving many bloggers to disable trackbacks.
