See: CommunityWiki:KnowledgeIsBasedInTrust

For most practical purposes (beyond the philosophical question about whether we can really "know" anything), knowledge that is created in wikis is based in "trust". This means that knowledge has passed the Community Standards "test", and is (generally) trusted by the community.

When we say we "know" something, we are really saying that we "trust" that we know it.

People who use wikis tend to create loose or strict rules (Community Standards) that they use to establish group trust of knowledge. This happens in both large and small groups. Generally, the larger the group, the more strictly the whole group tends to adhere to Community Standards. This is because Social Negotiation becomes more difficult in groups larger than 25 people. In groups larger than 25 people, group activity tends to center around Stigmergic Collaboration.
