Michael Jones
Founder and CEO, Userplane

Founder and CEO of Userplane, Michael oversees the company’s business strategy, sales and operations. Under his leadership, the company has profitably become the leading provider of web-based community applications in the social software space. Within two years of launch, Userplane software reaches over fifty million users in more than fifteen countries. Userplane-installed sites span the full spectrum of web communities – including top tier web properties like myspace.com, Friendster.com, date.com, Red Bull, and Honda.

Michael frequently represents Userplane at conferences and currently holds the position of President of IdeaOasis – a social networking and online dating industry association. Michael is also an advisor to Kolabora.com, an organization dedicated to exploring collaborative software. Jones was the keynote speaker at the 2003 OFFF conference in Barcelona Spain, a featured presenter at Flash Forward 2003, BlogON 2004, iDate Miami 2004, SITRAS 2004, iDate Nice 2004, iDate Miami 2005, iDate Hong Kong 2005 and iDate Miami 2005. Michael has also been published in numerous internet journals including IMediaConnection.com.

Prior to founding Userplane, Michael was founder and CEO of PBJ Digital – a national web development agency with clients ranging from Disney to Boeing. Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Marketing from the University of Oregon.
