The first WalkMesh will be held June 15th in San Francisco.

Please RSVP for WalkMesh via upcoming

We will start WalkMesh in the morning, gathering for coffee, breakfast and conversation, then we will set off on our walk, stopping at least once in the morning, then for a while for lunch, and then again at least once probably twice in the afternoon, ending up somewhere we can sit, drink, and relax.

We will end somewhere for food and drink - probably generally near South Park/SOMA for anyone who parks near South Park or takes the BART - suggestions are welcome. We may also try to join the SF Tech Sessions event at Microsoft's offices (at 1 Market) which starts at 7PM.

All WalkMesh participants are asked to bring comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket if the weather suggests it, money, and a camera if they want. A good pen would also be useful, though pens, notecards and bindclips will be provided. A small bag is suggested but not needed. Computers, books and heavy bags are discouraged - WalkMesh is about movement, conversation and observation.

WalkMesh is free and open to all, however donations are appreciated and depending on our route some costs may be incurred (Trolley tickets for example). All meals are separate so bring money (unless sponsors offer to pick up any taps...)

The Schedule is below, please edit this to add suggestions for where we might stop along the way. In some WalkMesh, perhaps this first one, I would also like to get to: The Palace of Fine Arts, into and around the Presidio, to the Ocean/Sea Cliff, from one end of Golden Gate Park to the other, to Michell's for Ice Cream, up to the park around Sutro Tower, to Fort Mason, to Treasure Island and back...

8:30 - 9:00 - WalkMesh start and breakfast - South Park - arrive earlier if you want a big breakfast, we'll get coffee and pastries and hand out notecards, route map, etc.

9:00 - 9:30 - walk - SOMA to Downtown to Grace Cathedral

9:30 - 10:00 - First stop - Park in front of Grace Cathedral, likely also a pause enroute to pick up waters, coffees, light snacks.

10:00 - 12:00 - walk down Mason to Lombard St, stop (if we want) at Sterling Park, then continue on to Fisherman's Wharf and then to Fort Mason,. We will also try to stop at the Cafe at the School of the San Francisco Art Institute (Chestnut above Columbus)

12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch. One option is along Chestnut St. (The Grove for example)

THE AFTERNOON SCHEDULE IS NOT SET - CALL Shannon at 1.800.454.4929 for details of Lunch and afternoon plans, will depend on who is there for the afternoon and everyone's interests. We may skip the Exploratorium in favor of exploring the Presidio, walking through Presidio Heights, or heading up much further to Mitchell's for ice cream.

1:00 - 1:30 - walk to Palace of Fine Arts

1:30 - 3:00 - Palace of Fine Arts / Exploratorium (admisssion extra) One option to explore is a group outing to the Tactile Dome, which is $12-16 a person including museum admission and would take 75 minutes.

3:00 - 4:30 - walk from Palace of Fine arts through Presidio, up Luna St. into Presidio Heights, down to Richmond District

4:30 - in the Richmond we could either plan on dinner then, bus back to downtown, or we could take a bus or walk back downtown.

5:30+ Dinner / Drinks as a group - location and suggestions welcome, may also try to stop by the BrainJams event later that evening (location to be determined however makign planning more difficult)
