Below is a list of suggested topics for Chapters or Cases for the MI021 Computers in Management group project. You are welcome to suggest additional topics or firms. Fast Company, BusinessWeek, the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Forbes, Fortune, Inc., ComputerWorld, CIO, Inc., and Wired can all be great sources for potential project topics, so a good strategy is to dispatch your group members to look at these sources, too.
Note that many of the Briefings Topics and Case subjects have been used by prior classes. You may select to do a briefing that was done in an earlier semester (save for any that are listed as 'retired' or 'on hiatus'), but two groups from the current semester may not choose the same project topic. Groups also CANNOT choose firms we'll be covering in a major way as part of course topics in class (see the MI021 Readings & Schedule list). Note that if you do choose a topic used in a prior year, everyone will be able to see this and will have expectations that your project be significantly stronger than others, given that you've had an opportunity to leverage the work of an earlier group. While you can reference earlier work as you can reference resources on the Internet, it is expected that all of a group's final work (written and presentation portions) will be their own.
Once your team has been confirmed on a project assignment, and if there has been prior work done on the project you select, we want to preserve the earlier work. Visit the prior page for your confirmed topic, then make a 'Duplicate Page' of the prior work (look under the 'Tools' area to the right of a wiki page's "Edit" button). Next rename the duplicate page (also under 'Tools' to 'Project Name - earlier project from SEMESTER YEAR', e.g. 'Salesforce.com - earlier project from Fall 2007'). You may now return to and edit the main page for this project (e.g. the 'Salesforce.com' page) any way you wish, but be sure to start the top of your new page with a link to the prior work done on this case topic (e.g. be sure your page starts with a link to 'Salesforce.com - earlier project from Fall 2007')
When updating the group assignments below, your instructor will indicate a project has been assigned by placing the Section # and Team # after the project name, in parentheses - e.g. (Section 4, Team 9)
