Description:
The Arena in vivo pharmacology department is looking for a research
scientist to contribute to preclinical research programs aimed at the
development of treatments for CNS disorders. This position requires a
PhD in a biological discipline (e.g. neuroscience, biology,
pharmacology), with extensive training and/or relevant experience. The
primary responsibility involves championing the in vivo pharmacology
effort for several ongoing discovery programs. This responsibility
might include setting-up/establishing new animal models to obtain
proof-of-concept for targeted CNS receptors, acute in vivo screening of
small molecules, and long term chronic studies in animal models of
disease. As such, the position requires a broad skill base. Experience
in various animal pharmacology methods is essential, and the ability to
complement these skills with some in vitro assay experience is a
definite plus. High levels of motivation, attention to detail, and
strong communication and computing skills are prerequisites for this
position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Experimental design, data collection, interpretation and analysis
• Oral and written communication of scientific results
• Small animal handling (rats and mice)
• Drug dilution, preparation, and administration
• Small rodent surgery
• Study design and execution
• Setting up and running various in vivo assays
• Organizing, analyzing, interpreting and presenting data
• Record keeping/notebooking

Job Requirements:

Education: Ph.D

Experience: Industry Experience: 2-4 years

Specific Skills: In Vivo pharmacologist having experience with rodent models of CNS diseases.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: The applicant should be able to handle and dose small laboratory animals.
