Sr. Scientist/Scientist II – Ocular Program - Job # 08-006
Current nonclinical programs focus on the development of gene delivery
of growth factors for neurodegenerative and ocular disorders, including
retinal degenerative diseases (e.g. retinitis pigmentosa, age-related
macular degeneneration, and glaucoma). Selected individual will conduct
research and development activities to support nonclinical development
for Ceregene’s ocular programs. Responsibilities include designing and
executing experiments, analyzing data, and preparing reports,
publications and other documents. This individual will act as liaison
to the ocular community, including preparing and giving presentations.
Responsibilities also include contributing as a member of development
team(s) and providing guidance and/or supervision for Research
Associates as needed.
Requirements include a Ph.D. in biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, or
related field; a minimum of approximately six years for Sr. Scientist
(or two years for Scientist II) post-doctoral or independent research
and development experience; and experience with retinal degeneration
disorders or ocular drug development. Experience with conducting ocular
nonclinical safety and toxicology studies and preparation of an IND for
ocular disease indications is preferred. Must have effective oral and
written communication skills and ability to present findings to a
group. Must be able to collaborate effectively in a team environment as
well as work independently. Must be able to manage multiple priorities
and meet aggressive deadlines. MS Office skills are required. Job level
will vary depending on experience.
