Senior Scientist (Ph.D. Position) – Process Chemist

CoMentis is engaged in the discovery and development of innovative
small-molecule drugs to treat neurodegenerative and neurovascular
diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, AMD and cognitive disorders. We
are seeking a talented and highly motivated scientist to work in a
positive, energetic and challenging environment.

Work activities for this exciting position are centered on the
synthesis, purification and characterization of organic compounds for
the treatment of various therapeutic targets. This individual should
possess expertise in synthetic organic chemistry as well as generation
and interpretation of analytical data for the characterization of small
molecules (NMR, FTIR, HPLC, TLC, etc.). Candidates should be skilled in
proper laboratory notebook documentation. The primary focus of this
position will be the scale-up synthesis of API as well as production of
large quantities of synthetic intermediates for use by the discovery
chemistry group.

A successful candidate will have a Ph.D in organic chemistry.
Experience in process chemistry and the scale-up of API synthesis
(1-500g) is highly desirable. Medicinal chemistry experience will also
be advantageous. The individual should have 2-6 years of experience in
a pharmaceutical and/or contract research setting. Position requires
strong communication, inter-personal and problem-solving skills,
computer skills and capability to work independently with direction
from management team. The position includes an attractive benefit and
