Clinical Scientist Medical Affairs Department
Reports To: Vice President, Medical Affairs
Job Description
The
Clinical Scientist (CS) will be the clinical member of a small field
based team focusing on delivery of drug information and messages to key
thought leaders, investigators, practicing physicians, advocacy
organizations, and media. The CS will participate actively with the
clinical and marketing team to ensure optimal strategies are developed
and executed to achieve optimal patient recruitment. The CS is the
primary field interface for Medivation’s Medical Affairs group and
he/she will be responsible for building advocacy for future products
among key clinical providers in the medical community. This position
will report to the Vice President of Medical Affairs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide field-based medical support to Medivation’s clinical research programs
- Identify and profile potential investigators for all phases of clinical trials
- Perform market development activities for new products and indications
- Identify and build relationships with national and regional thought leaders
- Develop key thought leaders as speakers to participate in national/international symposia
- Develop strategies and tactics to effectively communicate complex scientific education to healthcare providers
- Attend medical/professional congresses and symposia to interact with thought leaders, as well as collect, analyze, and interpret disease state and technical product information
- Participate internally in cross functional initiatives and project teams as requested
- Support publication planning efforts, and slide development process
- Maintain a high level of technical competence through participation in ongoing training
Education & Experience
- Advanced degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D. in Life Science or related field, M.D., R.N. or equivalent)
- 3+ years of related pharmaceutical industry experience
- Therapeutic experience in the neurology arena is a plus
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical trials and regulatory requirements
- Ability to professionally communicate and cultivate strong working relationships
- Ability to discuss scientific concepts fluently to any audience
- Willing to travel as required for the project (approximately 50%)
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
