Ourmedia (formerly Open Media) is an open-source initiative undertaken for two purposes:

to create a global library for grassroots media of all kinds;
to foster and promulgate open standards (APIs, schemas and user interfaces) to bring personal media to the desktop. See our Mission Statement for a more detailed explanation.

We've made several changes to the ourmedia FAQs page. Please take a look and offer feedback on the Website page.

JD and Marc met with Brewster Kahle and Parker Thompson of the Internet Archive on Oct. 15 and worked out the last remaining issues before we launch the public beta website of ourmedia. See details at the bottom of the Website page.

We have a lot of activity in the Metadata and Upload Tool Groups, and need to get this squared away before we can launch, so please pitch in!!

Important announcement: We've changed the name of this wiki from openmedia to ourmedia and, as of Nov. 5, 2004, opened it up to the public, so log-ins and passwords are no longer needed!
