The cool documents page is used to list new and notable pages that merit further editing. It is also a way of bringing pages to the attention of the editorial board.
The difference between hot documents and cool documents is that cool documents contain more detail, are more esoteric or theoretical, and are generally written by and for topic specialists. Editors of cool documents should not be concerned with distilling the information down to something that is easily digestible by the general reader.
