Extensive experience in the medical device industry in R&D managment and engineering. I'm very interested in collaborative innovation and trying to figure out how the model can be configured to improve the value proposition for medical device manufacturers.
Currently employed at XTENT Inc. (December 2003 – Present) I manage R&D activities to develop a novel coronary stent and delivery system capable of in-situ stent length customization and multi-lesion treatment. This innovative product is currently under development and being evaluated for clinical safety and efficacy in the EU.
Prior to XTENT, I worked at Guidant (now part of Abbott Vascular) where I was responsible for R&D activities in the Endovascular Solutions group; primarily worked on a device for the endovascular treatment of Abdominal Aortic Aneurisms. I also worked for a time at Ceramatec, Inc. in Salt Lake City, UT where I helped develop an oxygen sensor used in medical gas monitoring equipment.
Before my life as a corporate guy, I owned and operated Wasatch Cycle Works, LLC in Salt Lake City, UT where I designed, developed and manufactured bicycle components for the mountain biking community. Involved in all aspects of the business overseeing marketing, sales, R&D and operations. This was a small-scale venture that was eventually terminated because I ran out of money.
I have an MBA from Santa Clara University and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from BYU.
