One of the prerequisites for mass intelligence is a system for aggregating all the input.

In designing a collaborative situation, you need to think about how much freedom is given to participants in the ways they can respond. Too few and you can distort, dumb down your responses, or generate cynical or ironic behavior. Increaseing your noise to signal ratio without you necessarily knowing it. Too many options on the other hand, can demand too much from that participants in terms of how much they are willing to contribute or think about something.
