This is one of the guidelines in wikinomics.

Since "Incoming Links" is, in Socialtext, a prominent part of the wiki navigation system it probably needs to be managed as such.

This is unfortunate because linking should generally be encouraged, socialtext should allow admins to remove the incoming links box in favor of a right hand side menu.
