kaboboom is my first AOL name, a contraction of Kate (my wife's name) and Bob. I used to post here using my full name, Bob Iliff, but I started with wikis and SocialText trying to get my employer to use wikis "behind the firewall". Despite much enthusiasm with my co-workers, Management has turned a deaf ear. I haven't given up, but I decided to contribute to Wikionomics from my home PC, with the unfortunate result than my handle defaulted to a "pen name". I intend to correct this if and when I am successful in bringing a corporate wiki(s) to my employer. In the meantime, I'm a little bit too humiliated to use my real name. My particular "slant" on corporate wikis is that they are the Heijunka Box thats permits document assembly as that device is to Lean Manufacturing, and the efficient assembly of Toyota Automobiles, not a small revelation. In that perspective, I see corporate wiki deployment as "Small Pieces, Loosely Joined", and not corporate encyclopedias

Hi Bob,

I bet the community would be interested to hear any reasons your company had for ignoring wikis. we could do a List of reasons why companies will not wiki
