Like in any community there is a benefit to specialization and we encourage people who are participating to adopt roles according to what they like to do best.

Remember: In a wiki you don't have to do everything. For example, researchers should feel free to dump large chunks of copied (with permission) content into any page for editors and writers to digest.

Editor - Participants who don't create much content, but shape, trim, refactor, rename and reorganize existing content.
Writer - For those who have the touch, writers create succinct, yet sparkling prose.
Researcher - The hunter-gatherers of the wiki world, you folks bring home the bacon (or Tabuli) for the everyone else.

How do you adopt a role?
Easy, link from your user page to the role page like this:

Welcome to my page, I'm an expert systems administrator, but a novice [editor] here in wikinomics.
