Dear community members,
The response to Wikinomics, both in the bookstores and on our website has been wonderful, and in some ways, overwhelming. Thus I hope you understand we've been a little delayed in formalizing our plan for the Wikinomics Playbook, not to mention that we've also been waiting to hear what the community would like to do with the project. Based on comments from you, we would like to announce that version 1.0 of the Wikinomics Playbook will be published in September 2007, and you are all invited to be co-authors. The cover of published Playbook will list the top 20 contributors and the rest will be listed on the acknowledgments page and in the notes to specific chapters.
New Paradigm will arrange to have the book printed, and will be distributing 100 copies for free at one of our upcoming member conferences in September 2007. A limited number of free copies will be distributed proportionally among the top authors. Other copies will be downloadable or purchasable (at production cost) by any member of the Wikinomics community.
In the meantime, we've got a lot of work to do, so we've outlined a tentative plan and we hope the community will help flesh-out the details.
How it will work:
1. The general scope of the published Playbook will be to expand on subtopics within Wikinomics, provide case studies and analysis, implementation strategies for organizations, and evaluations of collaboration technologies. In essence, we will focus on improving the best of the material on the wiki so far. We will lock-in a specific set of topics no later than May 31st, which will give us a further 2 months to prepare the content.
2. An editorial board (EB) will be formed, initially by invitation, to assist with this process. The EB will be comprised of the top contributors to the Playbook along with a member of the New Paradigm Staff. The EB's job is to provide the leadership and oversight required to complete a publishable text. If you wish to participate in the editorial process please contact Michael Pilling.
3. Beginning August 1st the final text will be reviewed by a professional copy-editor in order to prepare it for publication. Printed copies will be available during the first week of September.
4. All the final content of the Playbook will be developed on the Wikinomics.com wiki of course, and it will be under the Creative Commons BY-SA-NC license.
We sincerely look forward to collaborating with you on this project and look forward to your ideas and feedback.
Yours truly,
Anthony Williams

I will work hard to make the 'playbook' as good as I can make it. I hope everyone else does aswell.

What is the status of this plan? Can we still add content to the playbook and get it included?
