The project is an initiative of Media Venture Collective and is being funded by a grass-roots effort, from contributions large and small.

We are currently aiming for $30,000 to upgrade the contribution software to make the commons universally accessible. We have a challenge grant of $5500 that will match donations ($1020 used so far), and have raised ~$4000 as so March 2004.
