My "official bio":

Eugene Lee is the Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors at Socialtext. Lee assumes day-to-day management and operational control over all aspects of Socialtext's business, including driving product direction and development, strategic alliances, and scaling the sales, marketing and support organizations globally.

Lee comes to Socialtext from Adobe Systems, where he led Adobe’s enterprise marketing and vertical market segments. Previously, he held several executive leadership roles at Cisco Systems, ranging from Vice President (VP) Worldwide Small/Medium Business Marketing to VP Worldwide Enterprise Marketing. Lee also held key management positions at Banyan Systems, including General Manager for the messaging business unit. He was co-founder of Beyond Inc., developers of the award-winning BeyondMail product, and holds four patents in messaging, workflow and privacy technologies. Lee has a B.A. in Physics and B.S. in Engineering and Computer Science from Harvard College and an MBA from M.I.T. Sloan School of Management.

A more personal description of me, why I'm here, and what I get passionate about:

First thing out of business school I lucked into the opportunity to co-found a software startup. We built a product called BeyondMail which was really groundbreaking in that is was way "Beyond email" - by incorporating lightwight forms and an extensible rules language we were trying to turn email into a groupware and workflow platform. We built a kickass product that would have taken the world by storm if only we had waited 5 years for the Internet to happen.

So my collaborative software roots go way back, and I've always described my career and my passion as centered on where People, Software, and Networks intersect. So last year when I was looking to get back into the startup scene, I decided to explore the whole "Enterprise Social Software" and "Enterprise 2.0" space. I was halfway through reading "Wkinomics" when Ross Mayfield's blog post about Socialtext seeking "CEO 2.0" came across my screen. It was an obvious fit and a match made in heaven.

I'm passionate about leading, teaching, innovating, and serving customers. I think the greatest shareholder value gets created when all of these align and reinvorce each other, and I'm honored by the opportunity to be part of the Socialtext team.

One of the areas where I think we have room for improvement is to better engage with our customers and our ecosystem, and so we are making a concerted effort to turn "/Exchange" into a thriving place. Please engage with us and each other proactively here, and feel free to ask me questions, offer advice or suggestions, and help us get better.
