Here is a **DRAFT** tutorial for the use of NodeXL: NodeXL_tutorial-7.doc

http://nodexl.codeplex.com/

NodeXL is an Excel 2007 template for viewing and analyzing network graphs, along with a set of .NET Framework 3.5 class libraries that can be used to add network graphs to custom applications. NodeXL used to be called ".NetMap".

A network graph is a series of vertices (sometimes called nodes) connected by edges. See this Wikipedia article for an overview of network graphs.

A DRAFT slide deck providing an overview of NodeXL is now available here. This document will be extended with a guide to the many core tasks and operations to perform on network data sets.

The NodeXL Tutorial by Derek Hansen, Ben Schneiderman, and Marc Smith introduces some of the core functionality of NodeXL using a few simple datasets. The current tutorial is based on an earlier version of NodeXL and will be updated in early July, 2009. It takes approximately 3-4 hours to go over in a classroom setting with students following along on their own machines. The tutorial relies on the following datasets, which are NodeXL files:
