This is from an online friend, Rose. She suggests making the batter the night before.

Chocolate Crackles

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
1 2/3 cups unsifted all purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 - 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Combine gran sugar, veg oil and vanilla in medium mixing bowl. Mix
well. Add eggs, one at a time mixing well after each addition. Stir
in flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Cover and refrigerate for
about three hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Shape
dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in separate bowl of powdered sugar. Place
about 2inches apart on prepared (Pammed or lightly greased) baking sheet.
Bake for about 8-10 minutes. Best if underbaked a bit (I bake about 8
minutes) and then I let them sit for about a minute on the baking sheet
before I remove them to cooling rack. They need to set up for a
bit.

Makes about 4-5 doz cookies.
