  • VideoVoice Collective - Using a technique called "videovoice", this heath advocacy collective uses a form of documentary film called participatory filmmaking to improve health conditions of of impoverished communities.
  • FilmAid International - An international organization that uses film to address many human rights, health and social crises.
  • The Hub - The global "hub" for digital human rights media and activism; serving as a central, participatory site to view, upload and take action of digital media related to human rights and activism.
  • WITNESS - An international human rights organization that provides digital video training and support for local human rights organizations.
  • Firelight Media - Non profit production company that develops and uses digital media and film for social justice.
  • OneWorldTV - This is the YouTube of social and human rights activism. It is a site that you can view and upload short films and digital video messages related to social issues.
  • Manhattan Neighborhood Network - administers the Public Access cable television services in Manhattan. Mission is to "ensure the ability of Manhattan residents to exercise their First Amendment rights through the medium of cable television and to create opportunities for mutual communication, education, artistic expression and other noncommercial uses of video facilities on an open, uncensored and equitable basis."
  • DVRepublic - A project of the Black Filmmaker Foundation, this site hosts a community of informed "citizens" who consider the intersection of media, technology and social justice. Home to the BFF Lab , which promotes digital filmmaking by socially concerned filmmakers of color.
  • 24 Hours for Darfur - watch the appeals of Darfurians and those of experts on the atrocities in the region. Upload your own videos to be emailed directly to world leaders.
  • TheHuman Rights Video Project is dedicated to increasing the public's awareness of human rights issues through the medium of documentary films.
  • Environmental Justice Foundation provides film and advocacy training to individuals and grassroots organizations in the global south, enabling them to document, expose and create long term solutions to environmental abuses.

  • Educational Video Center - A youth media organization that uses documentary film for social change.
  • Youth Rights Media - Youth organization that uses digital media and community organizing for social change.
  • Participatory Action Research Collective - CUNY-based org focusing on critical inquiry, social theory and the politics of social justice for youth
