Socialtext Open

hide

Socialtext does not plan to update or support the Socialtext Open wiki in the short-term for the distribution benefits of Open Source, to instead focus its immediate energies on core development and cultivating a larger Socialtext Open Developer Community with widgets and mashups.

Old stuff

Most mailing lists are hosted at Socialtext on the Socialtext mailing lists page.

Other lists:

Wikiwyg-dev, at http://wikiwyg.net/lists/

If you are on the old Sourceforge list, see: Socialtext mailing lists are moving. We would like to invite all Sourceforge/Socialtest mailing list members to join socialtext-user. The list socialtext-dev is also being combined with socialtext-user.

Our mailing lists are archived to the wiki using Wiki list archiving

Socialtext Open users and developers

We'd like users and developers in our community. Add your name to the list and make a wiki page about who you are and how you're using Socialtext Open.

  • Liz Henry, community manager for Socialtext Open.

What kine of open source license do you use? I could not find any specific license on this page or on the sourceforge page.

  • Thanks for asking! Previously, the STPL which was not OSI certified, and currently, the CPAL, which is. Socialcalc was under a mixture of the Perl Artistic License 2.0 and STPL; now it's under the CPAL. -Liz

Is it possible to get this opensource release compiled and ready to be installed on a hosted server? I have a domain which I would like to use a socialtext wiki on, but I don't have access to the kind of install needed by following the instructions on this site. Thanks!

It's probably not feasible to install Socialtext into a hosted server. You'd need root access, and you'd need the dependencies installed. We don't support this kind of install, sorry. --Luke
