Vonage’s voice-over-IP service with unlimited domestic
phone calls directly through their home phone for
as little as $30 per month. So far, the company has
135,000 subscribers and is adding 15,000 per
month. Five million calls per week are made using
Vonage. It has nabbed about two-thirds of the broadband
phone lines in the U.S. According to Consumer
Reports, the voice quality and ease-of-use is good,
and a lot of fancy features such as funneling calls
from multiple locations (including cell phones)
through one Vonage number, as well as remote use,
make this very attractive for the mobile early adopter.
Its partnerships with cable companies and popularity
among consumers are propelling Vonage quickly
forward . By the end of this year, Vonage expects to
be profitable.
