Welcome to the Speakers' Wiki

Purpose: to list non-typical speakers (often women), searchable by topic, to speak at your tech or other conferences.

Find speakers for your event! Check out speaker's affiliations, contact information, geolocation, past speaking engagements and other important information to help conference organizers to choose speakers, and especially to diversify tech and other conferences. Out of several conversations, including ones at Blogher in 2005, the idea for this list came up. Another function of this wiki is that it makes women in tech more visible to each other. See our Guidelines for Conference/Event Organizers for ideas on how to find good speakers.

This Wiki Has Been Donated By Socialtext.

It came from an idea put forth at Blogher05 where it was noted that often organizers of conferences choose those they already know and are familiar with, instead of bringing in new voices. Making a list of speakers would be helpful for pointing to those new voices, their expertises and affiliations. This wiki now has over 400 speakers.

Suggestions:

It would be very helpful to have categories for geographic location and languages spoken. At the very least, people should be encouraged to put it in their bios so they can be found via your search.

I would second the usefulness of a geographic tag. I just got asked to recommend women for some speaking gigs in the UK and found it hard to use the tool to sort out some ideas. Could we implement geotags?
